Portugal 2017: Porto, the Algarve & Lisbon - October 7-16, 2017
This 10-day educational tour will take travelers to Porto, Lisbon, Fátima, Sintra, The Algarve and other amazing locations. Journey through the cities and coastal villages that were once home to some of the greatest explorers the world has ever known. For the first time ever we will also be offering a three-night extension to Lisbon and the Azores from October 16th – 19th!
Associate Professor of Communication Rev. James Chichetto, C.S.C. '64 will serve as the trip’s faculty host and will share his expertise as travelers tour historic sites including the Sancturary of Our Lady of Fátima and its grotto, the Houses of Jacinta, St. Francis Church, Chapel of Bones and the 19th-century, romanticist Pena Palace in Sintra. Travelers will also visit the Stock Exchange Palace and Sagres Fortress.
The year 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the Marian apparitions witnessed by three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal. Join fellow alumni as we journey to Fátima, visit Christ the King Statue in Lisbon and explore other religious sites along the way. Sip Port in the city it’s named for and soak up the historic neighborhoods along the Douro River. Coast from beaches to tranquil fishing towns in the Algarve, and end your stay in Portugal’s colorful capital city.
We will be partnering with Go Ahead, Inc. on this tour which costs $2,949 per person (double occupancy) and includes round trip airfare from Boston, hotel accommodations, breakfast daily, three dinners, one lunch, and the full time services of a tour director.
