A Safe, Close-Knit Community Where Students Can Be Themselves
It is not unusual to hear Stonehill students referring to our College community as a family. Everyone who works, lives and teaches here is committed to maintaining a nurturing atmosphere where students feel safe and are comfortable being themselves.
Among our 17 diversity organizations is InterAct, a peer-led group for students who were born outside of the U.S. or have spent a significant part their developmental years outside of U.S. culture. Students discuss issues of adjusting to life in the U.S., receive support in navigating culture and social norms at Stonehill, and share their unique perspectives. New members always welcome throughout the semester.
More than 90 percent of students live on campus in a variety of residential settings. This is where they develop bonds that last a lifetime. Students quickly form a close community in a safe environment where, with the help and guidance of Residence
Life staff, individual needs and desires are balanced with the common good.
With a close-knit living environment, delicious food and free laundry, you may not be tempted to leave campus. But with Boston a mere 22 miles north, you’ll have easy access to America’s No.1 college town, putting you within reach of a quarter of a million other college students, internship and service opportunities, cultural events, job prospects, and more.
Clubs and Organizations: From parsing Eliot in the English Club to analyzing court rulings in the St. Thomas More Pre-Law Society, we have dozens of academic clubs and organizations along with others that cater to a wide variety of interests, including dance, skiing, ecology and science fiction.
Fitness and Athletics: This is an active campus with 20 NCAA Division II teams and more than 30 intramural and club sports including rugby, ultimate disc, beach volleyball and dance. We also have a recently expanded state-of-the-art fitness center with exercise rooms, tennis/baskeball courts, indoor jogging track and a dance studio.
Community Service: Stonehill is committed to faith, diversity, equality and social justice, and we make sure you have the opportunity to live those values. It happens through retreat programs, cross-cultural immersion, working on our farm and opportunities such as our Into the Streets volunteer program and the H.O.P.E. Service Immersion Program.
